You can feel the anticipation. It is so thick you could cut it with a knife. After a week of classes and wondering ‘What did I get myself into?’ it starts. College football! This is like Christmas morning on campus. Students can’t focus and the only conversation you here is one in which the strength of our quarterback and defensive line are debated and what we need to do in order to move up in the BCS standings. The entire campus seems to buzz with excitement as the tailgate’s get under way.
This season’s opener was a home game against 15 ranked Pittsburgh. It was a messy game with a lot of mistakes. However, after a long fought battle the Utes pulled it out and won 27-24 in overtime.
The Utes not only know how to tailgate but every year after the first home game of the season we throw the 5th Quarter party. We always pray that the Utes win because otherwise the party is a bit of a dud. This was not a problem this year after a nail biting game we partied with free hot dogs and snow cones and live music.
One of the happiest sights of the fall is 2,000 red MUSS shirts celebrating the victory of our Running Utes. Football season I am so glad you are back oh how I have missed you.
One of my favorite things to shoot is live music. The energy a band/group brings to stage has the potential to keep a party going well into the night or bring it to a screeching halt. These bands did a great job of getting the party started.
