Planning a wedding can be stressful and crazy at times but don’t forget to slow down and remember why you are getting married in the first place. Look for the good in each other, welcome opportunities for growth, and look for the beauty that is all around us. It’s okay to stop and smell the roses.

I found this sweet survival kit for grooms on Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings blog. What a great idea for a little something to give the groom before the wedding. Let’s be honest..his socks are probably not the first thing on his mind.
I have always loved fireworks and thought that they loved me back until I was 6(ish) years old and my cousins bought bottle rockets for the 4th of July. They were illegal. I just thought they were pretty. It wasn’t either of our faults really, the bottle fell over and to avoid sending a bottle rocket onto someone’s porch my cousin kicked it (the bottle). I was the new target and while the details are now fuzzy I do remember I was hit with something in the thumb. This was the first time I realized that fireworks weren’t all pretty.
Fireworks and I made up when I was 9. My family traveled to Lake Tahoe, California. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and had all the ice cream we could eat. My brother, sisters, and I also made up games involving the elevators. I’m sure the hotel staff was happy to see us leave. On Independence Day we trucked a mile to the beach, set up camp, and settled into what would be a long day. I was pooped on by a bird…eeeewwww! The sun went down and it was finally time to see the show. Luckily we were right next to a life guard stand and could hear the soundtrack to the fireworks on the boom box. It was an amazing fireworks display. One of the best I have seen. I again loved fireworks.
This year to celebrate our nations birth I headed to Sugarhouse park with some friends to see their fireworks. While it didn’t compare with the Lake Tahoe show it was fun to be with friends and have a camera handy.
I love grapefruit. It is my favorite of the citrus fruits. It’s light and refreshing. Eating a grapefruit somehow justifies my eating 3 brownies and ice cream. I’m not sure how this happens but it does, trust me on this.
I have recently been pushing myself to take a picture a day or every other day. Most of the time the world doesn’t and won’t see these photos, but I loved this breakfast still life too much to keep it to myself.
Yes it is the middle of April and I keep wishing for a sun filled warm day but, we have had back to back rain/snow storms. When this happened in March I was bitter and angry (read here). Somehow in April it seems to fit, it seems right. In elementary school didn’t you always signify April with an umbrella?
While winter rain looks sad and depressing a spring rain just makes everything more vibrant and alive. Some of my favorite pictures came from rain storms and while I love them, I am still secretly wishing warmer weather will come, and soon.
